Should it be Washington, S.C.?

It seems pretty certain that those outside the Northwest will continue to say “Washington State” even in instances where there is no reasonable risk of confusion with the nation’s capital.

So what if we just go ahead and make our name “Washington, S.C.”

You know, Washington, State of Columbia.
