“That badger thing”

Lou Carver was on vacation with her family.

They were driving south through Oregon.

“A story about badgers came on the radio and I returned to my novel, only to read the word ‘badger.’ Hey, I said to my family, I just read the word ‘badger.’ We had to slow to 20 miles per hour to go around a hairpin turn and I looked out the passenger window and running alongside our car in the gully was…a badger.”

Now, Lou said, when things occur in threes, it is known in her family as “That badger thing.”
