Marmot Merlot

That is what reader Stacey Luther suggested, in answering a Slice question, as a name for some future Northwest wine.

That’s fine. But how many of us had our opinion of Merlot forever altered by the character Miles badmouthing it in the 2004 movie “Sideways”?

Of course, like the famous Honey Badger of Internet fame, marmots don’t care. Merlot, one would guess, is fine with them.

In any case, there will be a batch of proposed wine names from readers in Friday’s Slice column.

I was thinking of making a drinking game out of it, but not everyone enjoys wine with their morning paper.
