Tea and little sympathy

Regarding “Retirees getting hammered” (Sept. 28): I just wish to note my disappointment that this letter to the editor was about economic issues facing retirees with huge pensions and retirement funds, not their drunkenness.

I’ve been searching high and low for a rationale as to why retired white people join the Tea Party arm of the Republican Party, and I figured a letter about them drunkenly staggering through their retirement years might have revealed the root cause to such irrational political alignment choices. Apparently not.

The struggle is real, and the search continues.
