Starting a car on a cold morning back in the day

Remember, before fuel injection and computer chips, how starting a car or truck on a really cold morning took skill?

Knowing just how much gas to give it, how many times to try it before you gave it a minute’s rest. Remember pleading, quietly coaxing and closing your eyes? And then, when the ignition did catch and the engine roared to life, how it always felt like such a pedal-dance with success?

Remember shouting “YESSSS!” and knowing the day was going to be a breeze from here on?

Now? I suppose there are modern cars that don’t start right up. But, like a lot of things, it’s not the same.
