Speed controls on car

We have cars on our highways capable of race track speeds of 100, 110, 120 mph. The top state speed limit is 70 mph, and we have cars that can do 120 mph or more. That’s 50 mph or more over the limit.

The car involved in a recent fatal “accident” is promoted for its macho image, speed and power. There is always someone who will test that. Even my old van can probably do over 100.

We should have speed controls on motor vehicles. This is long overdue and should be advocated by law enforcement, state and federal legislators, insurance companies and AAA.

Since those agencies have been silent on their responsibility, there is the choice to sue and sue big when a product is illegal or dangerous. I hope they do.
