When litter is a happy discovery
So I was heading east on my bike when I saw it.
There it was in the middle of 40th. Something that looked like an animal.
We’ve all seen plenty of roadkill. And I’ve seen my share.
But there is something more intimate about these sightings when you are not in the car.
Then it got worse. It moved. Instead of roadkill, it might be road injured.
My guess? A big bird of some kind.
But I hardly had time to think what I might do when I got to it before I realized it was not an animal at all. It was a magazine or catalog. The movement I had detected from a distance was pages flapping in the breeze.
Sometimes there are happy endings.
And by the way, I have an eye exam already scheduled for the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.
