GOP too extreme

Robert Samuelson is wrong (“Election calls for ticket-splitting,” Oct. 25). Decades ago, I split my ticket to pick moderates. However, the GOTP has become so far right wing because it has run extremists at all levels of government.

Trump has not hijacked the party. The leaders have been speaking to its base in sexist, racist and bigoted code words for years, then ignored the people after elections. Trump stopped using the code words and was blunt about his hatred.

Only by voting straight non-GOTP, whether Democratic, Green, Libertarian or otherwise, at all levels, can we move the government back to folks who, while they still have strong opinions, are able to live a little more reasonably and work together more. The Republican Party is dangerous at all levels.
