Slice answer (being vegetarian at Thanksgiving)

Donald Schaefer saw the question about not eating meat and the upcoming holiday.

“It shouldn’t be a flashpoint. I should be more mature (or less reactive) but I am not. I have been a vegetarian for over 40 years and still have memories of being told at meat-centric meals (after the inevitable lecture on the irrationality of being a vegetarian) ‘Oh, you can have a salad.’

“I am concerned about the ethics of meat eating but I am pro-choice. My problem is my perception that as a vegetarian I am being told that it is my fault if the only food available for me is a salad. I know I am being immature and for over 40 years I have been working on my failure to accept this situation. It is going to take some more time.”
