Sturgill to keep public lands

Once they’re gone, they’re gone. Our public lands belong to all of us, no matter our social or financial standing. They are the playgrounds for fishing, hunting, birding, hiking, mountain biking and skiing with no fences to restrict access.

Of course local interests and effective land management need to be considered, but this is much preferred to giving up and turning over our precious resources to corporate and private entities. You can be sure that if that happens, profit will trump the public interest. Idaho will become another Texas. In that state, unless you know someone who owns property and will grant you permission, the great Idaho pastimes of hiking or hunting or backpacking will no longer be an option for the majority of Idahoans.

Mike Crapo, our current U.S. senator for Idaho, now favors selling off our public lands. Jerry Sturgill, the Democratic candidate for this seat, will fight to keep our public lands public because he knows that once they’re gone, they’re gone. Vote for Jerry Sturgill in November if you value keeping our way of life here in Idaho.
