Neighbors: They’re what’s for dinner
The Slice had asked about the assumption that everyone moving to a remote, isolated rural setting has a paranoid world-view.
A longtime correspondent in Idaho provided an answer.
“I think it is mostly media driven,” he wrote. “We’ve been here over 25 years and I have not seen anyone as hardcore as some of the people in the small county in the Sierras of California that we came from. Some people had plans to dynamite the four canyon entrances to the county, to seal it off. I had one customer that actually kept a list of vegetarians, thinking they would make better eating if it came to that.”
I think that might even trump having a bunch of weapons hidden behind a false wall.
