The truth about baby boomers
The truth about baby boomers is they were easily fooled.
When they were kids, at least.
(Perhaps a more inclusive pronoun might be in order here. But I’m trying to write less first-person stuff.)
Once upon a time, having your tonsils removed was about as common as a skinned knee. Sure, it required a hospital stay. But benighted children of the era could be persuaded it was all fine because — get this — they could have ice cream not long after they regained consciousness.
Can you imagine a kid today falling for that? Of course, not. Kids today would need more than the promise of ice cream — a choice of two great flavors! — to believe a hospital stay was actually a grand adventure. If you have seen what it takes to bribe kids these days, you know what I am talking about.
