Majority supported Paris

Cathy McMorris Rodgers posted her statement regarding President Trumps decision to leave the Paris climate accord on her Web page: “…T he problem with the Paris Agreement is how it was done — without the approval of the American people or their elected representatives through a ratified treaty. …”

But, 70 percent of Americans favor remaining in the Paris climate accord, 97 percent of our climate scientists, many of our elected officials - both Republican and Democrat - energy giants like Exxon Mobil and the birds and the bees all favor a viable planet. I think the American people have spoken and along with 175 other nations agree that joining the accord was the right thing to do.

McMorris Rodgers and those who insist on ignoring evidence-based science, can step out of the way and let the rest of us try to fix this problem. I am proud of Gov. Inslee stepping up and working with other governors to honor the commitment made in Paris. His efforts ensure Washington state is not left out of the jobs that will be created as solutions are explored and found.
