White House a sewer of hate

As one who also grew up in Kansas, I did not share Rob Curley’s affection for the Topeka Capital-Journal. Rather, I found it an undistinguished, blandly conservative rag.

I was, therefore, pleased to see that even they have joined the chorus of editorial boards decrying Trump’s recent tweets. They correctly describe the tweets as reprehensible, racist, and false.

Trump has turned the White House into a sewer of hate and idiocy, forcing fundamentally decent and honorable Republicans in the Bob Dole mold to explicitly or tacitly join him or lose power. Was it too much to expect that Cathy McMorris Rodgers would break out of her pattern of blind allegiance to a degenerating party, at the expense of principle, when the recent roll call vote occurred? I guess so.
