Ignoring the evidence

The article in this morning’s paper, “A Spokane Divided,” was interesting, with people who were pro and anti-Trump impeachment. Some interviewees were thoughtful and others less so, just advocating blind support for Trump.

I assume everyone realizes Trump was impeached when the House voted on December 18, 2019. Since 1789 there have been 45 presidents and only three have been impeached; Trump is number three. Unfortunately the Senate will no doubt vote against removing him from office.

I strongly believe Trump is guilty on both charges. I watched the majority of the House impeachment and found the witnesses’ testimony compelling and credible. It took great courage for career diplomats, many who have served under Republican and Democratic presidents, to go before the committee to testify. Safe to say they put their careers on the line as well as facing personal threats from unconscionable people.

National Security Council aide Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman has been vilified for being courageous, stepping forward and providing honest testimony. This week Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn repeatedly attacked him via Twitter, making false allegations about his involvement and besmirching his honorable reputation. A pathetic tactic on her part.

I expect no less from the Republican Party. Trump has made 16,241 false or misleading claims in his first three years. This is a documented fact. Believing him over those who testified and ignore evidence gathered by the Democrats is irresponsible and harmful to America. Shame on Trump for what he has done to this country.
