Just how hot was it last week at Mount Rainier?

We camped at White River in Rainier National Park last week during record-busting heat, yet we were still shocked to read the headlines about the historic snowpack melt.

It was reported that 30 percent of the snowpack melted in four days . Then again, that probably explains why the river was raging.
