Wondering & DFO: There Can Be Dialogue

Wondering: DFO, I am pleased to see that you are considering not using the "C" in reference to people who oppose the working of city government. I think the library and the Kroc Center are great additions to the community (there would likely have been no bitter controversy if the city officials had been upfront about the use of our tax money. As far as Riverstone I believe the controversy is about the appearance of "milking the taxpayer" to enrich developers. However, I would never label you over your opinion, as it appears you will not label me over mine. I hope this means peace and continued dialogue.

DFO: You launched a wonderful thread today with your observation, Wondering. As I followed it down, I was reminded that I set the tone. I'm not going to ban commenters from using the C-word or most any other word. But I personally am going to try to be more accurate out front. Indeed, CAVE is a dismissive word. I've seen both you and Gary Ingram enjoying the library. So, I know you support that facility, although neither of you are thrilled about LCDC. Anti-LCDC might not be accurate either, if you support the concept of urban renewal, but not the particular way it is being played out in Coeur d'Alene. As you know, I'm happy with the way the LCDC performs here. But that doesn't mean we can't communicate and enjoy our disagreement. I appreciate the fact that you hang out here. And introduced yourself at the library.
