Hux Redux: Mayor Finally Gets Wings

In this column space 25 years ago, I wrote a Huckleberry that’s more pertinent than ever today in lieu of the passing of former two-term Mayor Ray Stone early Monday morning. On July 4, 1988, this column wrote:

“Like every native in this town (Coeur d’Alene) under age 50, Carol Stacey of the Nickel’s Worth once was taught by our mayor. She thinks Ray Stone’s years as an inspirational high school teacher will win him a look-see at the Pearly Gates. Stone indicated in this space last week that Democrat Jeanne Givens has as much chance of beating Rep. Larry Craig as he has of going to heaven. Givens herself agrees that Stone’s time in the classroom has earned him a halo.” You can add your “amen” here.
