Democrats Flock To Precinct Races

It looks like the attempt by conservative maverick Larry Spencer has encountered stiff opposition. A quick check of the write-in filings for Kootenai County Democratic Central Committee seats shows 28 write-in candidates, including several who are challenging individuals who may be aligned with Spencer for committeeman seats. In Precinct 15, for example, Philip Clements has filed as a write-in against Gordy Ormesher. In Precinct 16, Sheila Gary has filed as a write-in against Alanna Brooks. In Precinct 27, Christina Kelly has filed as a write-in against Thomas Macy. In Precinct 64, Marian Bruno has filed as a write-in against Richard Teich. You can see all the write-in candidates for the Democratic Central Committee here. There is also one write-in candidate in the GOP Central Committee races -- Susan Manthey for the Precinct 52 seat now held by Bjorn Handeen. The deadline for filing as a write-in for federal, state, legislative, county and precinct races is at 5 p.m. today.
