Huckleberries Online

Top Post: How To Conduct GOP Audit

Top Post of the day ...

I've been trying to think of a way that Huckleberries Online could offer a way to our friends at the Kootenai County GOP Central Committee who are trying to conduct a legitimate audit of the local party's books. Among the ideas:

  • Jennifer Locke's plan (resolution passed): KCRCC appoints 2 CPAs to work with committee members appointed by Chairman Neil Oliver to go over books for last 10 years. Down side? Other side wouldn't trust Oliver appointments.
  • Duane Rasmussen's plan: Appoint one reputable CPA with malpractice insurance or equivalent for errors and omissions, who has no connections to either side who reviews the books for compliance with standard accounting practices as well as applicable state statutes rules and bylaws of the Republican Party.
  • Merica's plan: Has anyone thought of hiring a liberal Democrat CPA with no ties to any of you people who would go over your books with a fine tooth comb? If there's no one that could make both sides happy, maybe you should consider someone you could both be upset about? Nothing brings Conservatives together like a common Democrat to hate on.
  • DFO's plan: Appoint Jennifer Locke, Duane Rasmussen, Joker, Jeff Selle and me (with one year of college accounting) to go over the books. If there's something untoward in them, we'll find it. Mebbe we could live blog the event. Hey, what's the problem if no one is hiding anything?

Question: How would you resolve the problem re: a trustworthy audit?
