The Pachyderm's meeting was very informative and I found people there to be friendly and respectful. Bjorn Handeen who I ran against for the school board was particularly fun to sit with. Republicans and Democrats need to be talking and listening to each other more often in this community and stop demonizing each other in the press, on the blogs and in social media. There is no reason to make political disagreements personal or to be unfriendly to each other. Civility in our political discourse is what the founders of our constitution had in mind I think when they set up our representative form of government. They all had strong opinions at the constitutional convention but seemed to work it out and come up with a new democratic form of government. Although I may disagree with Representative Sims on the issue of the child support enforcement bill I found her comments to be very interesting and thought provoking.
