WSU set to end spring in Spokane

It's about six hours until Washington State hits the Albi Stadium turf for the Crimson vs. Gray spring game. There's a sprinkle right now, and that probably needs to go away if the Cougars want to draw a big crowd. There's a rumor that always goes around about Spokane fans being of the fair-weather variety. Read on for more on football and DeAngelo Casto's decision to leave school early for pro basketball.

• Washington State: We talked with Casto yesterday and he told us of his decision to leave WSU, so we put together this story and some notes. For more, there is also this story from Bud Withers in the Times and this piece from Christian Caple on the ... As for football, Withers has a good piece today on Paul Wulff's feeling as spring winds down. And's Ted Miller has this short post on the Cougars ending spring practice. ... We'll get out to Albi early today – heck it's a true home game for us – and let you know what's going on from our old stomping grounds – there were a few years there where we covered the preps in Spokane.

• Around the Pac-12: Everyone will be facing new rules in football next year, including ones pertaining to the clock, intentional grounding and taunting. ... Miller opens his mailbag as he does most every Friday. ... Washington: Nothing ... Oregon State: The Beavers show a new wrinkle with their offense. ... Oregon: Safety Cliff Harris says he has grown up and he'll be more of a team defender this season. ... Colorado: Nothing. ... Utah: The Utes will hold their spring game today. ... California: Nothing. ... Stanford: Nothing. ... USC: Nothing. ... UCLA: Nothing. ... Arizona State: Nothing. ... Arizona: The Wildcats have one goal in the spring game: stay healthy.

• That's it for this morning. We'll hit you up again when we are out at Albi. Until later ...
