Respect for the disabled
I was saddened to read Lloyd Brown Jr.’s Aug. 7 letter. He chided Sarah Palin for her decision to “trot out her pregnant teenage daughter, handicapped child and future (which didn’t work out) son-in-law.”
I would like to address the inclusion of her son with Down syndrome in that list. Mr. Brown obviously hasn’t had the opportunity to know many disabled people. I have. They are most often law-abiding citizens who work very hard to contribute their best to our society.
Hide them away! Hogwash! They deserve our respect and admiration.
