Tax vote warranted Page One
Cathy McMorris Rodgers votes to raise taxes on the people of Eastern Washington in order to protect tax breaks for Wall Street investment managers and loopholes for offshore tax cheats, and The Spokesman-Review buries the story at the end of a small article on page 3? What gives?
When Spokane’s voice in Congress moves to eliminate the deductibility of our state sales tax, while at the same time voting to shelter bailed-out hedge fund operators and mega-rich tax dodgers living in Bermuda, I expect Spokane’s leading newspaper to investigate, to at least ask McMorris Rodgers what on earth she was thinking, and then to tell us a bit more – on Page One – and maybe even to offer an opinion. I see that I expect far too much.
