Obama is foe of capitalism

The Spokesman-Review

As a naturalized citizen and small (eight employees) business owner, your recent (Feb. 26 and 27) headlines of Obama’s economic plan sent shivers down my capitalist spine. My parents, along with countless others, came here in search of the Great American Dream and we succeeded, but now these Democrats offer the Great American Government Handout.

Being neither an economist, banker nor accountant, but a devout reader of the Wall Street Journal (and the Spokesman), I see few expert writers condoning this tax-and-spend philosophy. Taxes on the “rich” will never generate the funds predicted, guaranteeing universal health equals socialism (who wants a medical system like Canada?), throwing money at equivocal infrastructure projects yields little, and chasing alternative energy sources is quixotic at best. The current bust of a former boom state, California, is strong evidence of the president’s misguided approach.

These next, hopefully short-lived like Carter’s, 450 days of Obama’s reign will be forever known as the Age of Entitlement – a time of harshness on hard-working, successful Americans and a softness on China, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, etc. Osama bin Laden may not bring us down, but Obama will chop free enterprise down at the knees.
