Humor makes news bearable

The Spokesman-Review

Re: “Columnist is a liability” (Letters, March 13): I greatly agree with the writer’s first paragraph citing Spokane’s enhanced livability and that people move here when they can live anywhere.

My wife and I are two of those people. We moved here in November 2008 from Nome, Alaska. Prior to the move we came to Spokane for a familiarization tour, stayed three weeks at the Davenport Hotel, decided we loved it and bought a home.

Living in the “world” is wonderful. Doug Clark’s column, to me, is insightful and a reflection, through his observations of our new community. I read it before anything else in the paper, as it gives me just enough humor to plow through the robberies, wars and the economic conditions we deal with. It also gives me a little more insight into local history and happenings. Maybe I’m wrong; however, I think you’ve missed his point.
