Conservative view revealed

The Spokesman-Review

I want to thank Don Graham for articulating the conservative perspective so well in his letter “Our health system beats others” published Oct. 1. It would be a crying shame if he had to extend his wait time for lab results so that 40-some odd million currently uninsured Americans can have access to life-saving, non-bankrupting health care.

He states that his wife is 71 years old, and he would therefore seem to be retired and the beneficiary of a state-run, socialized health care system called Medicare. Or maybe he has been duped into signing up for something called Medicare Advantage, believing that he is better served by a private system.

However, the state-run, socialized health system called Medicare is paying for the privately administered, taxpayer-subsidized Medicare Advantage program which runs 14 percent higher than Medicare in cost due to the price of obligatory profits for the private insurance middlemen between him and his doctor. It seems he really fears that someone that he may decide is unworthy may get something that he has.

Yep. That’s the conservative perspective all right: selfish.
