Text reads like nonsense

The Spokesman-Review

A few of those who oppose Proposition 4 call the supporters socialists, and most of those working to pass the amendment say that those who oppose it are lovers of the status quo. All of this gives a false impression. I am a sort of socialist and I oppose Prop 4. In addition, I quarrel with the so-called status quo. And I believe there are many more like me.

The proponents also push the false choice between voting from fear and voting from hope. I have no fear of rational change. And I get hope from the ideas of many radical thinkers, past and present, such as Pierre Proudhon, Gustav Landauer and Michael Taylor. I have worked on the ground for progressive causes. So please do not fall for the false message that only big money and the fearful oppose Prop 4.

I oppose Prop 4 because the text reads like nonsense. I challenge all voters to write alongside the text of each so-called right an accurate description of the process as it now exists and then try to explain to themselves in concrete terms how the “right” will help.
