Spokane is well represented
Nancy McLaughlin is running for re-election to Spokane’s City Council: I’m voting for her because she’ll continue to serve our best interests. In addition, on a statewide level, her peers recognize her strong leadership ability: She won a critical position as chair of the Association of Washington Cities’ (AWC) Long-term State Legislative Committee. In two years she will be the president of this important organization, if she continues as the District 3’s city councilwoman.
Elected officials from throughout the state meet as AWC to discuss state legislation and how to handle the unfunded mandates Olympia sends our way; these often create additional burdens on taxpayers. When a city the size of Spokane can be so well represented, we all reap the benefits.
This same collaborative approach works for Nancy as she partners with regional officials. She has earned the endorsements of Spokane Valley City Mayor Richard Munson, Cheney Mayor Allen Gainer, Airway Heights Mayor Matthew Pedersen and Liberty Lake Mayor Wendy Van Orman; as well as County Commissioners Todd Mielke and Mark Richard. With this kind of regional cooperation, we can anticipate positive results for Spokane.
