County priorities askew

Did it ever occur to Spokane County Commissioners Mielke and Richard that they are promoting a frivolous activity which is currently destroying a large area of our country? Or is a fancy, oil-guzzling raceway important enough for all the sacrifices to people and animal life that the fight for oil necessitates?

Is Commissioner Mager the only one to see the effect on the community of asking us taxpayers to come up with close to $600,000 while the county has so many truly desperate needs – and yes, what about that new regional animal shelter we’ve been promised for so long?
