School speed lesson unlearned

Once again I am surprised by the lack of knowledge exhibited by many drivers in Spokane. Today alone, as I waited to pick my son up from high school, I saw many drivers not only speed through the school zone (where there are clearly signs stating the speed limit during school days is 20 mph), but these same drivers failed to stop for kids who were actually walking through a marked crosswalk.

Seriously, when will you realize that the speed limit is 20 mph when you are driving through a school zone?

Once again, for high schools, you need to drive 20 mph Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – not at 7:30 AND 3:30! For middle schools, it is 20 mph when there are kids present, and for elementary schools, it is 20 mph when there are lights flashing in those school zones. Time to dust off those driver’s license manuals and learn the rules of the road.
