Standing wastewater

The county has now installed and is continuing to install miles of sewer lines which go nowhere and may never go anywhere.

Sewer lines were installed in our neighborhood last year and residents were informed they would be assessed in excess of $5,000 for each line brought to a lot. The county would be more than happy to carry a loan at 9 percent for 10 years for those unable to pay the amount in full when it is levied.

Many residents in my neighborhood simply cannot afford the approximately $44 per month this is going to cost them when it is finally assessed. This does not include an additional amount of over $5,000 to hook to the line brought to their property line.

We continue to refer to the trunk line as the “sewage that might return.”
