Spokane deserves better leaders

Few elected or appointed officials in the history of Spokane will be recorded as more inept than those occupying the offices of the mayor, chief of police or the prosecutor’s office at this particular time.

Civilians are prosecuted and years of their lives ruined for attempting to deceive law enforcement officials in less important issues than those being prosecuted now regarding the case involving Mr. Otto Zehm.

That said, the mayor, chief of police and officers of the court in the prosecutor’s office have knowingly and willingly misdirected the investigations that have been conducted.

Assistant Chief Jim Nicks changed his story when he saw his retirement in jeopardy and will now speak for the prosecution. This is a complete reversal of his original statements.

The chief has simply tried to disappear and avoid any involvement.

And the mayor … well, the buck stops somewhere.

Law enforcement in general and specifically in Spokane can do without these individuals.

At the very least, the citizens of Spokane and Mr. Zehm’s family deserve better.
