Goodman a hypocrite

The delusional Nov. 23 opinion piece by Amy Goodman critical of Israel’s response to constant (six-year) missile attacks from the terrorist group Hamas deserves a note to set the record straight for readers not familiar with the Middle East.

Goodman and the far left are hypocrites, at best. In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy nearly went to war with the Soviets over shipped missiles to Cuba, and set up a blockade/embargo. Yet, now Israel shouldn’t respond to indiscriminate missiles launched at civilians?

Gaza was created by Egypt in 1948 to avoid absorbing Arabs fleeing the creation of Israel. Gaza was lost to Israel in the 1967 war, and later (2005) given to Palestinians in a failed “land for peace” gamble.

Israeli-built homes, farms and greenhouses were destroyed by Palestinians, who then engaged in a bloody “election” (2006) leading to the extremist Hamas takeover and expulsion of the corrupt Fatah Party to the West Bank of Israel.

Arabs will find peace not through terrorizing Israel, nor through Islamic-based revolts, nor through civil wars, but by electing leaders intent on improving their own primitive social standards. They should try emulating the national advances of Taiwan and South Korea during the past 50 years.
