Symphony needs your help

The Spokane Symphony Orchestra musicians were magnificent, the theater majestic, the empty seats sad.

For 12 years, I have volunteered on the symphony or Fox boards. The “Save the Fox” campaign was a big commitment musicians, patrons and the community supported. Buying the theater was prompted by the fact the symphony was displaced from the acoustically poor Opera House by long-running Broadway musicals during its season.

“Build it and they will come” proved to be true the first two years. Unfortunately, the community and businesses have not kept up the necessary support for many programs offered – symphonic and others. Since moving to the theater, the orchestra is playing at its peak.

The personal commitments of trustees are $2,500 annual fund contribution, raise an additional $5,000-plus, buy concert series, and support fundraisers and galas. A concert sponsorship is $15,000. Our highly educated, talented musicians have sacrificed.

We thank our orchestra members, loyal attendees and contributors for their support. Now it’s your turn to support the SSO and our award-winning theater. We heard from you that you did not realize the seriousness of our financial situation, so please send in those offers of $10 to $50,000 contributions and buy tickets.
