It’s all family planning

It’s probably not fair to involve The Spokesman-Review in a religious debate, but I must respond to Patrick Kirlin’s letter of Sept. 12. I was particularly struck by his statement that a woman has no dominion over her body and a man has no dominion over his body. So, she’s a baby-making machine, and he has no control over his urge to procreate, because it’s all part of God’s plan to populate the world.

Never mind that we have already done that, to the detriment of the planet. Catholics who practice natural family planning methods to avoid pregnancy are practicing birth control. I commend them, but I fail to see the difference between natural and artificial, as long as it works.

Most Catholics are charitable and tolerant people, but in every church there are some “holier than thou” individuals. They drive away more people than they invite in.
