GOP lost Farm Bill
Referring to Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ statements in the June 22 The Spokesman-Review, I find it baffling that she feels that the Farm Bill didn’t pass because only 24 Democrats supported it. She implies the Democrats who didn’t vote for the bill were responsible for the failing package, which provides insurance money to growers, helps establish foreign and domestic markets for crops and several other programs covered in the bill.
The truth of the matter is that the bill failed because 62 Republicans voted against it. They only needed 21 of those 62 no votes to vote for the bill to pass. I think Speaker John Boehner and his divided Republicans need to get their act together before they blame the Democrats.
