Boeing breaks unneeded
In October the Associated Press reported that Boeing’s net income had risen by 12 percent in the third quarter and profits from commercial planes rose 40 percent. Yet Boeing demanded billions of dollars in tax breaks from the Washington Legislature and got them. This is the same legislature that struggles to find enough funding for our schools, despite a court order to do so.
Maybe we should consider whether we really need such a poor corporate citizen in our state, or if we might be better off educating our kids and growing our own entrepreneurs. It worked for us in Bill Boeing’s day.
