ACA misses many people
The Affordable Care Act was intended to provide affordable health insurance for some 40 million uninsured citizens. According to numbers on the front page of July 25 Spokesman-Review, 8 million-plus have signed up for health insurance under the ACA, and 4 million people could be hit with fines in 2016 for not having health insurance, accounting for a total of 12 million people.
What is the status of the remaining 28 million people presumably without health insurance even after the billions of dollars spent to implement the ACA and subsidize many of the insured? Couldn’t a more effective and efficient plan be devised to meet the goal of universal health insurance?
