Not forced to pray
It is interesting to read Pete Scobby’s May 23 take on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling about public prayer at government meetings. He seems not to have understood the Supreme Court’s ruling last month. The court said it is not against the law to hold public prayer at the beginning of a City Council meeting. Nowhere does the ruling imply a person is forced to pray with the majority.
If Scobby would show up 60 seconds late to the City Council meeting, he would not be, as he put it, “forced” to pray with the majority of the attendees. He could just be polite and allow the majority to pray.
