Low participation in city

On April 1, I attended the Mayor David Condon State of the City address at Shadle Library. The meeting was very informative. Questions regarding street repairs, bridge safety in our city and public safety were explained.

In addition, there were very informative explanations on the city budget. Also, an amazing video on the Hot Spotter pilot program was shown. Condon also discussed the second annual Spokane Gives Week.

There were 30 people in attendance; five of those people were staff from the mayor’s office. It appears to me that many are willing to criticize but few are willing to participate. Here was the perfect opportunity to hear about the progress and discuss your concerns, and only 25 people took the time to listen. This is very alarming.

I am glad I attended, and I thank the mayor and his staff for taking time to inform us. I love my city!
