Fagan deserves re-election

I consider myself politically progressive, so from my perspective Spokane City Councilman Mike Fagan is a right-wing “whacko.” But I’ll defend to the death his right to be one. Most of his tea-bag ideas have no bearing on his job as District 1’s council representative. When he speaks about his religious beliefs or spouts opinions on vaccinations or taxation, I just consider his worldview.

However, Fagan’s about the most responsive and personally involved City Council member I’ve known in 30 years. He attends all the neighborhood meetings and personally acts on each and every issue brought to him by members of the community. Not just District 1 but from all of Spokane.

Retaining Fagan on the City Council also keeps him too busy here to do much damage on the state level. Have you noticed Tim Eyman has been much less active proposing his initiatives since Fagan’s been on the City Council?

Although we’re diametrically opposed politically, I know Mike to be a good and true community leader and a staunch advocate for Spokane. I’m voting to re-elect Mike Fagan.
