Stand with courageous teachers

I stand with the teachers. You might not agree with me, but I’m willing to bet quite a bit of money that for every elected official you can name who actually cares about my kids, I could name 10, 20 and even 30 teachers who care. And for me this is all about who cares the most about my kids, my neighbors’ kids and the kids on the other side of town.

Yes, the walkout will be inconvenient. But if civil disobedience were limited to what is convenient then I, having the anatomy that I do, wouldn’t have a vote.

I know what the teachers and staff are doing to ensure that education is fully funded. What are our elected officials doing? Courage would have been them saying “Yes. Our teachers are angry. I am angry. We can do better.” Courage would be acting on those words.

Our teachers are courageous and risking the community’s anger to ensure a future for our kids and our community.

I ask again: What are our legislators, school board members, city council members, mayors, governor, county commissioners and congressmen doing to make sure that education is funded? Anything? Not enough? Nothing?
