Cops need thick skin
The headline on your April 7 edition appears to claim prima facie guilt on part of the Spokane Community College law enforcement instructor based on a Power Point presentation. Those slides are based upon an old, male self-deprecating joke that has been around for decades.
A cop has to have a sense of humor and a “thick hide.” If this person is offended by a class that had no intent to offend, then she is probably not a good candidate for police work. What does she think it is like on the street? I submit that the years of experience of these instructors gives them a better perspective of what is needed than this student.
It is alleged that one instructor made a comment about racism being exaggerated by some black people. Some black and other race (including white) people do see racism where it doesn’t exist, just like there are many people of all backgrounds who suffer from a self-inflicted victim mentality. For some it is easier to be the victim in life as that takes away all personal responsibility to perform.
I, for one, do not want such a person as a cop looking out for me and mine.
