Good guys with guns
Isn’t it tragic that we as a people are more apt to call the city about potholes than to report that a friend or relative is making threats of violence? The rabid dog that took 49 lives had a wife that could’ve called the authorities and voiced her concerns. The authorities could have placed a hold on all purchases of semi-automatic weapons until such time as he was deemed a non-threat.
With thousands of laws to back them up, the intelligence community has never had it so easy to gather incriminating evidence, yet we see them repeatedly sitting on their hands while the rabid dogs kill innocents. Most judges would err on the side of caution, protecting the public, if presented with suspects.
The politicians use every crisis to pass more laws yet do nothing to enforce existing ones. The Japanese have a great rule that America should emulate: When an agency fails to uphold its mission, the leader(s) immediately resign and in some cases, face criminal penalties. In America, they’re most likely promoted. More good guys with guns are sorely needed.
