March took initiative

Regarding Sue Lani Madsen’s Jan. 28 column: We are not in a civil war. Comparing abolition and abortion is blatantly offensive and misinformed. She may not compare the two to prove her point regarding the Spokane Women’s March. The march was peaceful, empowering and solution-driven. Women, men, sons and daughters attended. Able-bodied people, and those walking with canes and walkers. One woman pushed in her power chair.

If Madsen was looking for an invite she missed the point. We marched in defense of reproductive rights, marched against a president who finds women inferior. To be heard. I can’t write the things President Trump has said about women and get it published in the paper they’re so offensive.

Bottom line, in a speech the day of the march, our speaker stated without pro-choice there is no pro-life. Without Planned Parenthood and Obamacare, where is women’s health? A rising HPV rate, cervical cancer, unnecessary deaths for lack of insurance and annual exams. That only scratches the surface. Planned Parenthood provides so many important services not discussed in the media. Our president certainly doesn’t have an interest in women’s health, mental or physical. We must.
