Support public education

Recently, I was lucky enough to attend two programs in which my grandchildren participated at Finch Elementary School. Nearly 100 uninhibited first-graders, including my grandson, sang and danced as they performed a musical about camping. The following week, my granddaughter performed a knock-your-socks-off, high energy entertaining circus club show.

After seeing these wonderful young people from many backgrounds and beliefs come together the way they did, it made it clear to me once again that public education is the foundation of our democracy.

When people are taught how to talk politely about their differences without name-calling or bullying behavior, they have the skills needed to work together, and succeed in whatever they set out to do!

Let us protect and support public education and send young adults out into the world to become the positive engaged examples that our country needs.
