Partisanship poison
I grew up in a conservative, southern, Baptist home. As a child, Ronald Reagan was my hero. He spoke plainly, eloquently and with authority. He seemed the perfect leader. I often wonder what he would think of our current situation.
Right now, the party of Reagan has given aid and comfort to our greatest adversary. They’ve taken assistance from the government of a former KGB agent to gain political benefit, and now seem intent on obstructing any inquiries into the matter.
This is not a partisan argument, this is an American Constitutional crisis. The Constitution places great power in the executive branch. The integrity of that office cannot be in question.
We must set aside our differences, and focus on the immediate threat: fascism, manipulated from afar. Vladimir Putin does not have American interests, or values, at heart. He, like many oligarchs, serve to further their own interests. He would love to have sanctions on the Russian economy removed, but he’d rather see our government in turmoil.
We must hold our elected officials accountable. They make laws to hold us all to account, so we must be the mechanism to keep their actions sound; it’s our job as citizens.
