Republican tax bill clever
The Republican tax bill is a clever piece of legislation. Faced with having to sell a plan that most Americans are totally against, Congress came up with an idea: Provide a small temporary give-back to most of the public while at the same time hide a bountiful permanent give-away to a few people who honestly do not need it.
According to one business analysis (by the Washington Post), those of us who earn less than $50,000 per year will pay, on average, a whopping $60-$380 in less taxes next year. Meanwhile, those earning $700,000 or more will see an average $50,000 tax break. But worse, while these reductions expire in time, buried within this “simplified” tax code are hundreds of provisions that allow those making more money than you could ever dream of to “permanently” pay less.
This unpopular bill is easily seen as an attempt to fool most of the public with a short-term, meager give back, while providing a true Christmas present to the wealthy. Only problem is it won’t work. People are not that easily fooled.
