Who is Donald Trump?

The president just completed a week abroad, first personally insulting our European allies, attacking NATO - even threatening to withdraw - and then fawning over brutal Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in a display of timidity and treachery that stunned both sides of the aisle and the entire free world.

“Treasonous,” said former CIA Director John Brennan; “Disgusting,” said Fox commentator Neil Cavuto; “Trump failed America today,” said former Secretary of State and Republican Chuck Hagel.

For me, the question is: who is Donald Trump and why do we still know so little about him?

Here’s what we do know. In the 1980s he recklessly overbuilt casinos in New Jersey and went bankrupt. After that, investors and bankers refused him credit. He turned to Russian oligarchs, who began loaning him tens, even hundreds of millions. Why? What did he have to offer them? Money laundering? And what did Putin, ex-KGB spymaster and prince of oligarchs, get in return? We don’t know. Why don’t we know? Why can’t we find out?

Trump is assaulting our allies, our treaties, our institutions and our free press. This is extremely dangerous. I urge everyone to call Congress today and demand answers.
